Why should I blog? Who would want to read what I have to say? Those are some of the common questions I get when I ask clients to start blogging. I meet so many interesting people through out my day and at conferences. People who are true subject matter experts in the fields that they enjoy as a profession or hobby. The problem is that my clients and the people I speak with don’t see what I see everyday.
What I get to see is all the spammy sites that generate money everyday with scraped content because they go without competition from authoritative sites with good content. My clients and the people I speak with (and with good reason) find it hard to believe that there are very smart people who generate nice paychecks from internet users who really are interested in a specific topic but end up clicking on an adsense ad or affiliate offer. Most of the time it’s due to the lack of good authoritative sites in that niche and not really the spammy sites ability to rank.
So if you have an existing site and it truly doesn’t matter what topic it is, consider installing WordPress and developing content related to your profession, service, product or hobby. Some subjects are completely starved of good content and have a broad global following. Become that subject matter expert and write consistently even if its one day a week or five days a week. Generating content consistently is the key to building and audience and increasing overall traffic.
