Surviving SES San Jose 2007

SES San Jose was awesome! Sumo Wrestling, Googleplex, Shoemoney look alikes and even ate a craysee looking caterpillar sushi roll. The best part about the conferences is hanging out with all the great people who just know how to have the best of times.

The Fairmont
Hanging out at the Fairmont was thing thing to do, the bar was packed, Dax owned the piano and took requests. At one point Dax was reading chord charts off of someones iPhone as he played and sang to a grooving crowd who kept dropping tips into his Martini glass. Friendly water fights broke out later that evening as Mojito’s and Martini’s were consumed. Apparently somebody instigated the whole thing… but thats all I have to say about that.

The Sessions
Going to the sessions is a but rough after hanging out all night. I still managed to hit up all my sessions though. The best session of all “Are paid links evil?” was nuts. If you haven’t checked out Gray Wolf’s presentation on paid links I strongly suggest you download it as Michael Gray set the tone for the entire session. Some people were torched others praised overall the crowd was really into it and everyone walked away having learned what to do and not to do with paid links.

The People
This being my first post I want to thank a few people (in no specific order) for being cool to the new guy: Dax, Ferozan, Shoemoney, Dillsmack, DaveN, Todd Friesan, Michael Gray, R. Kelley (Yes THE R. Kelley who by the way needs to get her blog up and running!), Todd Malicoat, Tim Mayer, Neil Patel, Jeff Randall, Becky Ryan, Jennifer Slegg, Adam Sussman, BOTW, Tamar Wienberg (thanks for suggesting Facebook!), Brent Csutoras, Cshel and Pat.

Special Thanks to Greg and Barbara Boser.

Thats it… Next stop Las Vegas!
